Full Service Learning

We offer Pre K-12 classes , our curriculum is built in order to help our students succeed and learn information that will be essential in life. We focus on college readiness and preparation for the next level of education

Pre-K

Our program is designed to get students prepared for Kindergarten. Students take classes from our staff that consist of Art, Spanish, Physical Education, Religion, and Music. The curriculum is designed to bring all aspects of learning to your child to ensure their greatest success, even in their first years.

Grade School

Our elementary program is designed to surpass the basic state requirements for literacy. Students engage in collegiate experiences with our newly designed Chem/Stem Lab and our very high tech Science lab accessible to students of all ages.  These regular experiences heighten the language arts, math and science skills of our students. Stem based activities deepen our students critical thinking skills and prepare them to be problem solvers. Gifted students are given customized assignments that match their learning level.  Parents may receive progress reports generated by these specialized programs that continually challenge the students abilities.

HIGH SCHOOL

With so many options for managing your students future, SJCA provides a wide variety of educational options that can help a student build a portfolio for success. Students are encouraged to enroll in college credit plus courses at Ohio University or Belmont College during their high school career. These classes are counted towards both high school and college graduation credit. All classes at SJCA are directed at enhancing critical thinking skills, developing time management and refining study habits to ensure success in their future, no matter the field they pursue after graduation. High School students have access to all labs, STEM, Foreign Language, Religion, Art, and Music classes,  allowing for the development of the  skills they wish to use in their future collegiate careers.

College Prep

At SJCA, we take into consideration the necessary preparations that your child will need to have when they leave our school. We provide them with every tool they need to be accepted to their dream college, as well as honing their mathematics, language arts, and communication skills, so that they may be successful in any trade school they choose. Our technology helps to prepare students for the skills they will need to navigate the ever-growing and advancing online college forums. We teach our students internet etiquette, such as how to properly send professional emails to teachers and, eventually, their professors.

Ohio State Tests

State tests are critical for measuring student learning and ensuring that all students receive a quality education.

The Ohio State Tests will be administered to all high school students. They have replaced the Ohio Graduation Test and are given according to the courses that are taken in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

The tests are administered online or paper versions and have a testing window of mid-April through the beginning of May.

In most instances, freshmen students will take English and Algebra 1. Sophomores will take English, Geometry, American History and Biology. Juniors and seniors will take Government. The test is scored on a ratio of 1-5. Scores of 1 and 2 are limited knowledge, 3 is proficient, 4 is accelerated and 5 is advanced. Students must earn 18 total points on the required 7 state tests. Students who score a 1 or 2 will be required to retake the test. Students with scores of 3 or 4 will have the option to retest in order to earn a higher score.

Grade school students are also required to take state standardized testing and will tested in the fall and spring of each year to adhere to the Ohio Department of Education guidelines.
